Hello Families,
Happy Easter! This is a reminder email about our field trip to the Calgary Zoo on Wednesday, April 20th. Here are some things to keep in mind:
1. We will be getting organized for our field trip first thing in the morning and loading the bus shortly thereafter. Please ensure your child is at school by 8:10am at the latest on Wednesday :)
2. We are encouraging all students to wear their LBS school shirt or a blue shirt so it is easier to keep track of our groups.
3. Please remove all unnecessary items from student backpacks as they will be carrying their bags with them for the day. They will only require a lunchkit, waterbottle, and sunscreen for the trip.
4. Field trips are always very active days so it would be helpful to pack an extra snack or two.
5. There will be no opportunities to purchase anything (food or gifts) while at the zoo.
It's going to be a wonderful experience to (finally) be going on a field trip!
Please reach out if you have any specific questions or concerns.
Take care,
Ms. Brown
Hello Families,
It has been so wonderful being back in Room 2 with all of my little friends this week! I am so happy to be back to the classroom and continuing the work that Mr. Meeks and the grade 2 and 3 team has been working on. It was a great opportunity to be in a role where I was able to develop new skills and support lots of students, thanks for your flexibility with the changes!
We have been getting a ton of work done this week to prepare for our field trip to the Calgary Zoo next week. It's exciting to think that many of these students have never been on field trips (and school busses) before! I know we are going to have an amazing time at the zoo and have lots of opportunities to apply our animal learning about habitat, diet, needs, and physical adaptations through sketching. labelling, and jot notes. We will be using this animal research to guide our next non-fiction writing work.
We are also finishing up learning about the Nova Scotia community of Meteghan through a string inspired art project to represent the natural resources, landforms, physical geography, and goods and services of the region. Next, we will be looking at Prairie communities with a focus on Saskatoon.
We are developing our mathematical reasoning and vocabulary through a daily "Which One Doesn't Belong" or WODB task. From this work, we have teased out mathematical vocabulary such as even, pairs, doubles, sum, difference, and many more.
Please note that today (Thursday) students may have chosen to bring Library books from LBS home with them. Please take care of these books as you would your own and return them each Wednesday or Thursday so new books can be selected. If books are not returned, a charge will be added to your school account.
I hope everyone is doing well, again, I am so happy to be back in the classroom with all of these amazing kiddos!
Take care,
Today was goodbye, thank you for all of the memories over the last few months. I have loved my time at LBS and with the students of Room 2. I am really going to miss you all! I have enjoyed getting to know each one of you personally, and for the experiences we've had together learning and growing. Today we were able to share a few favorite memories with one another, and spend some time outside in the beautiful sunny weather.
Thankfully I'll likely be back in the school from time to time :)
I'd love to stay in touch! wcmeeks@cbe.ab.ca
