This week we were able to spend some time testing the strength and stability of the tree bases we constructed last week. We tested strength by stacking a dictionary on the top and stability by putting the base through an imaginary earthquake. We have decided to use two of the bases stacked on-top of each other to create a mega base! Next week, we will continue with the tree construction. We are still seeking paper tubes (ie. toilet paper, wrapping paper, paper towel, etc) for our construction.
We were finally able to complete the news articles we have been writing about the Terry Fox Assembly and Run at LBS. We worked carefully to construct interesting hooks to grab the audiences attention. Next week, we will be looking into this further, as well as starting some poetry learning.
We also started looking at feathers this week in connection to the grade 3 curriculum about the physical adaptations of animals. We sketched and made predictions about the different types of feathers. As we move forward we will learn more about feathers and specifically crows in connection to Wishtree.
REMINDER: we are going on a walking field trip Monday afternoon! Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Brown
