Hello Families,

We have been having SNOW much fun the past few days! :)

Yesterday, we took advantage of the thick beautiful snow and went out snowshoeing. The grade 5/6's helped us put our shoes on. It was an amazing experience!

Today, we used a snowman as an inquiry method for data collection! We worked together to build a snowman, and then brought him into our classroom. We discussed different ways we could measure his height, and named him Lily Jakob Junior.  We decided that the best way to measure him would be to use unifix cubes (nonstandard measurement) and rulers (standard measurement). We made predictions about his height, looking at the heights of one, two, and 10 cubes as a frame of reference. On first measurement he was 45 cubes tall. We made predictions for how his height would change after recess.

After recess he took a little tumble and his head fell off. He measured in at 31.5 cubes tall after the fall, or 1 foot 8 inches. Here are some photos:

Hope you enjoy the photos! Have a lovely evening!
