December 10, 2018

Hello Families,

Today we started to look at different ways to count. We used chart paper and big markers instead of our Montessori mats today to count objects in our classroom, using different strategies such as counting all, counting on from a number we know, and skip counting. We also thought about the most efficient ways to count big groups of objects, and made estimates before counting.

We also shared about the weekend, and completed our journal entries. It is awesome to see how much the writing is improving since the beginning of the year. Students are being challenged to add more content to their text, as well as considering things like capital and lowercase letters, and appropriate punctuation placements.

The LBS Concert Tickets will be sent home today with the oldest child in your family at our school. If you are not attending the evening show, please send your tickets back as soon as possible so they can be given to another family. If you require more than 2 tickets please contact the office.

Recently, we have had an increase in the amount of toys, cards, stuffed animals, etc. coming with students to school. They can be distracting for learning, and can easily be lost or taken. Please ensure your child is not bringing any toys to school unless it is an earned reward, in which case I will communicate with all students and post in my blog.

Also, we are still hoping for food bank donations!! If you have any please send them in so we can start building and measuring our tower! :)

I hope you enjoyed the weekend!

Lindsay Brown
