Hello!

We have had another busy and quick week! On Tuesday we had a whole school assembly where Kananaskis in the Classroom gave us a presentation about the difference between moth and butterfly species, and their life cycles.  Kananaskis in the Classroom always does a fantastic job of creating engaging and educational presentations with lots of laughs. After the assembly we had the presenter also provide our class with some additional lessons and fun learning games.

Wednesday was another busy day with school photos. Everyone came looking their best, and it was an exciting day! We also worked on the number 10, and talked about all of the different ways 10 can be made by using a variety of materials such as the addition strip board, and unifix cubes. We also shared and wrote about Thanksgiving or our weekend events.

We have also been working on our celebration of learning assembly with Ms. Thomas's class. Yesterday, we talked about and expressed different emotions that our amygdala produces. We also have been creating scripts and assigning assembly roles so students have enough time to practice. We have been working on some artwork and writing to compliment our assembly theme of learning about the brain. Through an amazing book Hey Warrior by Karen Young, we got the idea to give our Amygdala's, Prefrontal Cortex's, and Hippocampus's different avatars, as they each have a different role in the production and regulation of emotions. We used crayon and water cooler paints to create a bunch of interesting and cute characters as representations of the different areas of the brain. We also gave them names! Here are some photos:

Have a great weekend everyone!
